Watching files on FTP; cannot use modified date variable in script
Apr 05th, 2017, 8:25pm

Hi,

Thanks for this software - it is what I needed for a critical task. I am using WatchFTP v 3.8.0.0 (64bit) evaluation.

I am NOT uploading; I need to get a baseline of files with date (time & size would also be nice) and then track new files from then on.

When I run in debug mode I can see the file modification dates on the FTP server in the debug console (& debug log), but when I run the batch file, the %WF_FILE_DATE_LM% and %WF_FILE_TIME_LM% variables are null. How should I get something close to the original file date? WF_DATE is the run date so not helpful for going into the past...

Batch script is a simple ECHO of variables into a text file; nothing fancy.

I've read through the forum. Help please?

Cheers,
Roger

Hello Roger,

Obviously, those variables ( http://www.watchftp.com/wfhelp/environment_variables_en.html ) should not be null. Hard to say what is happening without looking myself...

Is this *REALLY* FTP or is it SFTP?
Can you stop the task, right-click, select "backup" and send me the zip to look at? Also include your bat script (rename .bat to .txt to prevent email issues). See my signature below for my email.
Am I allowed to run the task so I can "debug"?

Gert

The task has the option set not to download any files, only detect changes. As the date/time related variables are set to the timestamps of the downloaded files, they are empty in this case.

A future release (may) use the FTP timestamps instead.

Hi Gert,

Yes, That was what I meant to say, that the task is not downloading, because otherwise we would be downloading TBs.

However I note that the debug console output has this date information, and the ftpdirlist_current.watchftp has the file size so this information is accessible.

I didn't want to get into scripting/parsing the output files from debugging for obvious reasons....

Regards,
Roger
