Hello, sorry to bother you!

We have a server running version 3.7.4.5, which downloads a number of daily files as new versions of these files appear on the SFTP site. The processes on this server are being migrated to a new server.

On our new server, we have recently purchased version 4 and tried to replicate our existing process. We currently have a 1-minute interval for checking and strangely, WatchFTP is downloading the same files again at every 1-minute interval.

I could set the interval to something a lot higher (ex. 12 hours/43200 seconds) in order to prevent too many downloads, but I would prefer to try and understand and eradicate this unexpected behaviour if possible.

Hard to say what is causing this.
Do I understand you correctly:
- it worked with the previous version (on the old server)
- you created a NEW task on the new server (didn't use a backup) and it redownloads again-and-again

Can you try this, if possible:
on the old server
- stop the task
- right-click it (so a popup menu shows)
- select the option "Backup..." to create a zip with all settings and logs
on the new server
- select the menu "File -> Restore"
- select your backup zip

That should import all your previous settings correctly.

If the old server is not available anymore (so you can not backup)...
On "FTP Settings", enable the option "Keep Session Log"
Run the task until you see multiple downloads for the same file
Stop the task and create a backup
Email me the backup (see below for my email) AND tell me the full name of one of the files it downloaded multiple times.

Just in case you didn't receive my reply, the zip was not inside your email. Instead there was a message:
We removed a file from this message. Your organization's email policy doesn't permit this type of file. If you need it, please contact your administrator.

perhaps you can rename the file to hello.pqr and that helps? Or send again from (for example) a gmail account?

I can confirm that this issue has now been fixed be ensuring that the path setting begins with the "/" character.

Yes.

We want to do a little more testing here. It seems that if your "FTP Directory" is not a full path (starts at the root) AND you have the option "Force download if local file does not exist" set, WatchFTP will keep downloading the same file again and again.

Easy fix for the current release: enter the FTP Directory as a full path.
The next release should have this issue fixed so it doesn't matter how the FTP Directory is entered.
