Now available for download the first public beta of WatchFTP v3.0 (there have been a few private betas).

New in version 3 is SFTP support. The beta will expire April 30 so make sure to check this forum for new beta versions.

If you have trouble browsing an SFTP server (directory names show as garbage), open the "Advanced" window and enter "utf-8" (without the "quotes") in the codepage field.

Read further if you want to install this beta on a computer where WatchFTP version 2 is also installed. Note: I advise against this because it is rather confusing to have 2 versions on the same computer. The tips below will also help you to copy a task from one computer to another computer.

This beta will install (by default) to C:\WatchFTPbeta3 and will use a different location to store its settings. This means you can have both versions installed on the same computer.
Do this to copy an existing task to the beta version:
- open the WF Control Center (version 2.x)
- right-click the task and select "explore task directory" (Windows Explorer opens)
- go "up" one directory and copy the file "taskname.config" and the complete sub-directory "taskname"
- now close the WF Control Center
- paste the file and sub-directory into "c:\watchftpbetadata"
If you now open the new WF Control Center you should see the copied task.
One note: if you originally had the task set to run as a Windows Service, this service will still use the old (v2) WatchFTP. To correct this, change the Run Mode of the task, save the task and then set it back to Windows Service again.

Here is a new WatchFTP beta with the following fixes:

* Previous beta's would write a lot of debug info to C:\Temp\sftplog.txt for SFTP connections
* Previous beta's ignored the "Filter Directories" settings
* Improved error detection (this fixes crashes on less reliable connections)

WatchFTP 3.0.1 PreRelease

Here is the latest WatchFTP version. Technically still beta but almost ready for release.
This version will work 30 days after you install.

What's new/changed/fixed
* plain http proxy support (no user/password)
* local file timestamps are now properly set
* FTP protocols didn't properly "filter directories"
* when the FTP file was deleted but its name was on WatchFTP's download list, WatchFTP would forever try (and fail) to download it

Just install this version "on top" of your current beta.

The beta has been discontinued as the English version of WatchFTP v3 is now released. The French, German and Spanish versions will follow soon.
