What's NewWe now have a 64bit version available. Make sure to read below if you want to install the 64bit version.
On the menu "View -> SMTP Settings" you can set an email address that will receive alerts about files and directories that can not be downloaded.
What's ChangedWhen an FTP file has illegal characters in its name, WatchFTP automatically replaces it with underscores (in the local filename).
There was a bug in this algorythm that would also change "
C:\Temp\file:1.txt" to "
C_\Temp\file_1.txt" causing Windows to report an error. Thanks for reporting this Larry.
When a directory (or file) doesn't have proper permissions, WatchFTP will add them to the "blacklist" and ignore them (see "Retry problem files" at
http://www.watchftp.com/wfhelp/timing_en.html ).
Further Betas?Only bugs will be fixed for the v3.1 release. New features will have to wait for a future (v3.2) release.
64 bit hints and tipsHere are a few known issues and tips.
WxRemote The 64bit version has not yet been tested with WxRemote (
http://www.gdpsoftware.com/en/wxtools/index.html) but there is no reason why it should not work properly.
If you install the 64bit version on a system where you are
not running the 32bit version, go ahead, there is nothing to worry about.
If you install the 64bit version on a system where you
are also running the 32bit version, read on.
Installing the 64bit version on a system with the 32bit WatchFTP versionThe 64bit version will not overwrite the 32bit version as they are installed to different locations.
Follow these steps:
- Start WatchFTP (32 bit).
- Stop all tasks.
- Edit each task, open the "Run Mode" tab. Make sure it is set to "Normal Program" (not to "Windows Service").
- After you have edited all tasks, make sure no task is selected and then select the menu "View -> Task Directory".
Write down the name of the directory that opens (typically "C:\ProgramData\WatchFTP" but it depends on your operating system). - Close WatchFTP (32 bit).
- Optional: uninstall the 32bit version. If you do not uninstall you may get confused because you will have 2 versions of WatchFTP on your computer.
- Now install the 64bit version.
- On the window that prompts you for "Task Settings Directory" (see picture below) make sure to enter the same directory you wrote down earlier ("C:\ProgramData\WatchFTP").

Done. You can now set your tasks back to "Windows Service" if needed.
